REVIEWS

Martin said: “ Damien demonstrates brilliantly the concepts of great lighting. Techniques that you’ll be able to adapt to your own studio and wow your clients. In these tough times you have to offer imagery with substance and great lighting.

It’s simple, just relying on colour washing your images will get you quickly found out by your clients. After all instagram is already offering this as a crass substitute for art. You need to create imagery that your clients simply can’t reproduce. Great lighting is a way of doing that. Enjoy this great training video.”

It’s refreshing to see a training video like this that extensively covers how to use continuous light effectively. We’re also shown how to build a scene with multiple light sources (including those already at the location), and all the essential details of what each light is doing and why. I love how Damien gets creative when it comes to light modifiers for both low and high key images!

Damien’s Hollywood Portraits continues the journey in a style of teaching that we have all become accustomed to. Seeing how amazing images are built from start to finish.  I learnt a whole bunch of new lighting techniques from this video.

Radmila said: “I Love-love-love-this video! Excellent work again, Damien & everyone involved!

This is not Damien´s first training video I’ve seen, but certainly one of the best! As a wedding and portraiture photographer, I love to photograph glamour. Hollywood Portraits is all you need for making outstanding pictures that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of your clients!

If you are a wedding photographer, you´re dealing with several “Uncle Bobs” at each wedding. This video will show you how to build a scene with different light sources and how each light is working and why. Something that uncle Bob just can´t do! This video is the ultimate instruction for making pictures that will let you instantly stand out from the crowd and make your work remarkable, whether you photograph weddings or portraits.

Times are tough for us photographers, even in Germany. But actually, it is as simple as this: don´t be a “Photoshop-er”, be a photographer, create great images with great lighting, classy and elegant style and your work will hang on the wall of your client’s home forever. Damien shows in this video how to create those images.

One more thing 🙂
If you like this video, you just HAVE to attend one of his workshops! I have worked with Damien several times and his teaching ability is just amazing. Not only is he sharing all of his wisdom, his positive energy will lift your spirit.”

Quicktime support for PC users

You may have read about Apple ceasing support of Quicktime software for Windows users. PC users have also been encouraged to delete the Quicktime application from their computers for fear of potential security risks. We would also highly recommend PC users delete Quicktime as soon as possible.

Whilst our videos may state they are Quicktime files, they are actually H.264 encoded MPEG-4 files that should play perfectly fine within many other media players and pose zero security threat in themselves. VLC is a popular free media player that plays .mov files. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

DAMIEN LOVEGROVE

Damien Lovegrove is a world renowned portrait photographer and Fujifilm UK ambassador. He has been a TV cameraman, a commercial photographer, a wedding and portrait photographer and now he is a writer, columnist, teacher, motivator and artist.

He went to the BBC at the age of 19 and trained for three years to be a cameraman, going on to train as a Lighting Director, and leaving the BBC in 1998 to become a full time photographer.

He now specialises in making women look fabulous.

“I’m inspired by beauty and as I have matured as a photographer I’ve learned to see beauty in just about everyone and everywhere. It’s not what I look at that matters, it is what I see.”

“Being a good portrait photographer requires key traits like having integrity, fun, respectfulness and a personable character. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30s that I began to gain that all important confidence needed to hone these skills, and I shot my first portrait in 1996 at the age of 32.”

“Some of the leading photographers I met early in my career had confidence and craft skills in bucket loads, but somehow they lost the desire or focus to really push themselves to greatness, and they fell by the wayside. It takes continual practice and improvement to get the most from photography and there are many obstacles along the way to overcome.”

“The secret of making consistently good photographs is to stay inspired and be passionate about photography. Inspiration fuels the learning of new techniques, and passion generates the motivation needed to continually practice.”
